Why We Built Guthi Collections
As members of the Newari community living in the UK, we experienced the same frustration that many others face when trying to buy Newari clothing.
There was no dedicated UK-based website where we could simply browse, choose a size and place an order with confidence. Most purchases had to be made directly from sellers in Nepal, which often meant high international shipping costs, long delivery times and uncertainty about when the order would arrive.
Buying through social media was not much easier. A simple purchase often turned into a long conversation, with repeated messages just to ask about the price, size, availability, colours, delivery costs or product details. You ask one question, wait hours for a reply, then ask another and wait again. What should be an exciting purchase for a festival, wedding or cultural celebration can quickly become slow, uncertain and inconvenient.
We believed there had to be a better way.
